The Name
Red Eagle was a leader of the Creek Indians and ancestor of Julius E. Weatherford, founder of Red Eagle Consulting, Inc. Red Eagle was also known
as William Weatherford and by "Hopnicafutsahia", a war name, meaning "straight talker" or "truth teller."
Red Eagle's name is most often associated with a battle that took place at Fort Mims, Alabama in 1813 during the Creek War. Some say that Red Eagle
was a leader in the attack; in fact, he attempted to prevent it, an act for which his own warriors threatened his life. Following the attack, Red
Eagle again risked his life, surrendering to General Andrew Jackson in order to obtain food and shelter for the women and children of the Creek war party. Jackson was so impressed by Red Eagle's bravery that he gave him refuge at his home in Nashville.
Red Eagle's name symbolizes integrity and honor, key elements in the success of Red Eagle Consulting.
